Today’s Reading:

Psalm 7

“Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.” (Psalm 7 : 6)

Have you ever been misunderstood, falsely accused, or betrayed unjustly? Some situations in life are life-threatening and heartbreaking. Psalm 7 is David’s heartfelt cry when he was slandered by Cush, a Benjamite, possibly a supporter of Saul. For a larger part of his reign as King, Saul was always after the life of David, and if not for God, David would have been wasted. Rather than fighting back in the flesh, David shows us the way of the righteous, running to God, not to vengeance.

Rage is a violent, aggressive response to God’s hand on your life. It means fury, intense hostility, a determined effort to destroy, damage and even annihilate. The enemy rages because of your purpose. The greater your glory, the greater the rage of the enemy. Satan uses people, systems, and situations to provoke fear and discouragement. At times, the enemies of a man are members of his household, just like the case of Joseph the dreamer. When the enemy doesn’t understand how you are making progress or when you are doing beyond their expectations, they arise in a rage. The rage comes in different sizes and shapes, like false accusation, jealousy and sabotage, delay, intimidation, spiritual warfare and hatred at the highest level. Some even go to the extent of setting a trap for you. I pray that you will never fall into the trap of the enemy in Jesus' name. What do you do when there is rage of the enemy? You must understand that the enemy you are fighting is cunning, and he uses weapons you may not even notice. So do the following: fight with spiritual weapons and not in the flesh as written in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 and Ephesians 6:10-18; avoid sin, learn to praise God, don’t allow fear, rather exercise your faith, be mindful of your utterances, listen to the Holy Spirit at times and act based on His leading.

When David called on God to arise, it denotes that God should act and do the needful. Allow God to fight your battles. While enemies rage on earth, God reigns in heaven. The enemy may rage, but God will arise. When the enemy’s rage grows hotter, it’s a sign that God is near to acting. Don’t be afraid of the noise, slander, or spiritual heat. The louder the rage, the greater the threat you pose to darkness. Are you currently experiencing rage in your life, at work, at home, ministry? Have you tried to fight battles God wants to fight for you? Why not cry out like David: “Arise, O Lord… for me”?

JAMES ALADE

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Arise, oh Lord, let your enemy be scattered in Jesus’ name

  2. When the enemy comes like a flood of water, may God raise a standard against them in Jesus’ name

  3. I shatter to pieces every rage of the enemy in Jesus’ name

  4. Traps set for my feet; the enemy shall fall into it in Jesus’ name

  5. Sword of the enemy, kill the enemy in Jesus’ name
