Today’s Reading:

Ezekiel 39:7-8, 21-29

Prayer is talking to God. It is our way of communicating our thoughts, needs, and desires to Him. It is an avenue that God has provided for the believer of making known the deepest feelings of our heart. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. (Phil. 4: 6). However, we need to understand that the One we are communicating with is Spirit - God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4: 24). Hence, we need His help in order to communicate with Him the right way. Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27) There are many advantages believers derive from praying with divine assistance, that is, praying in the spirit. Praying in the spirit is praying the will of the Father, your prayer becomes unselfish - For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful (1 Corinthians 14:14). Praying in tongues gives your spirit direct contact with God; Who is Spirit. When you speak in tongues, you are talking to Him by divine supernatural means. Speaking with other tongues keep us continually aware of the Holy Spirit's indwelling presence.

The Holy Spirit also takes our prayers and perfects them before the Almighty. The Holy Spirit prays within us when we cannot utter a word. To pray in the Holy Spirit is to also build unity in the body of Christ. When you are praying in submission to God the Father and His Christ, the Holy Spirit within you will testify to Himself in His Word, in your prayers. These things and so much more are ignited by the dynamite of praying in the Spirit. I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another so that you do not do the things that you wish (Galatians 5: 16 -17). It is by the help of the Holy Spirit we please God; even in our prayers. Praying in the Holy Spirit also align us to the will of God and charge us up. It keeps us in the love of God so that we can be in obedience to His will and ultimately enjoy eternity with our Lord. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life (Jude 1: 20-21).

“Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27). Speaking in tongues eliminates the possibility of selfishness entering our prayer life. For instance, if I pray a prayer out of my own mind and thinking, it may be unscriptural and it may be selfish. Paul wrote to the Church at Rome, “We know not what we should pray for as we ought” … (Romans 8:26). He did not say we did not know how to pray. We are instructed to pray to the Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 16:23-24). However, just because I know how to pray does not mean that I know what to pray for as I ought. So, Paul said, “We know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself (Himself) make intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26). The Holy Ghost is not going to do our praying for us. He is sent to help us pray. Speaking with other tongues is praying as the Spirit gives utterance. It is Spirit-directed praying, and it eliminates the possibility of selfishness in our prayers. You become intimate with God as you move into the realm of the spirit in prayer.

Brethren, you need the help of the Holy Spirit to pray the heart of our Lord Jesus, therefore, surrender your life to Jesus and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is when you experience deep intimacy with God Almighty that spirit calls unto spirit. You want a speedy answer to your prayer receives divine help in prayer, Let Spirit connect spirit. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; (Psalm 42: 7A).
