You are a Christian, of course; you are not just occupying space in the world. You are not put here to do business, grow old, have kids, make money, be a baddie (or goodie), chase trends, fix your eyes on a screen when you are bored and eventually die. This would be a waste. You are made for a lot more, and you need to discover, apply and execute your life’s goal to perfection. Today, we take stock of our mission in hopes of living a more purposeful life. If you are curious enough, keep reading.

The readings of today have the following to teach us about our mission in the world (see the end of this piece for today’s Scripture readings):

  • God wants everyone to be saved from sin, slavery to the Devil and eternal death.

  • God will not discard the work of His hands. He loves the sinner but hates sin.

  • God wants everyone to repent from their sins and live in holiness because it is possible.

  • God will not destroy a holy person with sinners. If anything, He shall redeem the sinner because of the holy ones. Are you striving after holiness?

  • Holiness is to love God above everything and everyone else and treat your neighbour as you wish to be treated—it is far from boring.

  • Pray today for an increase of truly holy people who will turn away God’s wrath from our society.

  • Pray daily that God may put a knowledge of His infinite love into the hearts of those who do not have it. This is the greatest witness to Christian charity.

  • Sin brought death into the world. Baptism has restored us to life. Grace through holiness of life is what keeps us alive in hopes of eternal life.

  • Through our acceptance of Jesus and modelling our lives on Him, we have power, and we exercise our authority as children of God by living lives of love and merciful service.

  • Jesus teaches us to call God our Father in prayer.

  • Jesus teaches us to pray in acts of worship, petition, supplication, mercy and for protection from evil manipulation.

  • Prayer without persistence is mere play. Persistence in prayer proves that we trust God and take Him seriously; it also makes us dearer to God, which is a bigger blessing than anything we can ever ask for.

  • God answers the prayers of all who are persistent; His store of blessings is unlimited, and his love is infinite.

  • Desire the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. Without it, you do not have a functional spiritual life.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully seek out a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor, or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Eternal Father, through Jesus Christ, we have grown to know and call You our Father. Help me to please You, never breaking our relationship through sin, and always treating others with love and mercy.

  2. Fill my heart with Your Holy Spirit so that I may remain always rooted in You. Amen.

  3. May God bless you today and always with the spirit of a consistent, trustful and faithful prayer life through Christ our Lord. Amen.

A blessed day to you!
