Today’s Reading:
Acts 5:33-42
“Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer persecution for the name”. (v. 41)
The church suffered a whole lot of blow in the beginning and is still suffering even till now. To preach the gospel then was between life and death. The suffering was so much that even the council (people of high reputes who belong to Jews) persecuted them not to talk of the persecution from outsiders. Disciples were threatened, tortured, and beaten mercilessly all in the name of the gospel. They laid down their lives, properties, and everything they had.
How are we preaching the gospel these days? How many people are willing to suffer for the sake of the kingdom? Though some parts of the world are experiencing persecution especially the Northern part of Nigeria but how many are actually standing for the sake of the gospel. The scriptures say, he that will live godly in Christ shall suffer persecution. All Christians must register in their hearts that persecution is inescapable if we want to follow Christ and reign with him. If you are suffering persecution now for the sake of the kingdom, do not give up because a crown of glory awaits you. No cross, no crown. Keep fighting, our Saviour’s appearance is imminent. And your rewards await you.

Prayer:
May all the missionaries facing persecution be strengthened to stand for Christ in Jesus name.
Each of the persecutors of the gospel shall be arrested like Paul and they too shall be instruments in God's hands.
No matter how tense the persecution; soldiers of Christ shall not give up in Jesus name.
Father, grant the Church the fortitude, boldness, courage, and strength to continue to stand firm in the face of persecution, in Jesus name.
Every agenda of darkness for our nation, land, be scattered, in Jesus name.
