I heard a woman say, “No mind dem. Na so dem go dey go church. After, dem go come dey hustle pesin husband!” There was disgust in her voice as she walked past a church where a preacher was vigorously reading from his Bible. It does not matter whether you do right or wrong, people will still talk. That is the way they are wired. The scribes and Pharisee had a problem with Jesus healing a man with withered hands just because it was the Sabbath. The question is "how are you wired?" We Christians have the mind, heart, and actions of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and it should not change because we are unappreciated.

"Man's salvation and perfection consists of doing the will of God which he must have in view in all things, and at every moment of his life." These are words of Saint Peter Claver: Being Christian is a full-time life and not a part-time job. It is not role-play. It is dedication and a character that runs deeper than your blood. The problem is that most of us are influenced by the noise all around us, instead of listening to God’s word deep in our hearts.

Here are some things to keep in mind as you go through the day:

  • Fill your mind with prayer and God’s word. How you begin your day matters.

  • Sin captures the heart only after it has imprisoned the mind.

  • God’s grace makes you ready for all that life will send you each day.

  • Better to be criticised for your Christian faith than being hailed for sin.

  • Blush for your sins, repent and reconcile with God.

  • Today is all you really have.

  • Be kind to everyone.

  • Pray the Rosary and meditate on its mysteries.

  • Never give up. If you fall, rise up and try again.

Encourage others with God's word, rely on God's grace and may favour attend all your actions in Jesus' name. Amen.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Lord, help me to do right by You.

  2. Lord, I consecrate my mind, soul and body to You.

  3. Lord, deliver me from evil persons and places today.

  4. Lord, help me not to sin today.

  5. Lord, help me to treat others well today.

  6. Lord, help me to use my gifts to serve You today.

  7. Lord, help me to do good always no matter the circumstance.
