PATIENTLY WAITING FOR THE LORD WITH ENDURANCE

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 27:13-14

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the good ness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart, wait, I say, on the Lord.”

In today’s reading verse 13 to 14, the Psalmist reiterated his confidence and hope in the Lord’s presence (vv. 13-14). When we live in faith, we patiently, but with endurance wait for the Lord’s goodness, to intervene in our unpleasant situation. Living in faith may not be that easy and it is not pleasant (Ps. 42:2-3; 43:5), but there is assurance of a secured future (37:9; 130:7).

Whatever we are going through, patiently waiting in endurance for God’s intervention is key. Nothing happens to us without the knowledge of God, and at the appropriate time and season, he will show up. When we rely and trust in God, he will strengthen us, encourage us and see us through. Many of our heroes in faith had passed through worse situations in life, but God saw them through. It is when we freight, panic, are afraid that we become restless and commit blunders that will lead us to places we should not have gone for help. God will never leave us, abandon us to sink or be put to shame. Many occasions God wants us to face challenges of life relying on him for help and to see us through. Then we come out stronger, wiser, more matured, and in a position to help others who might find themselves in unpleasant situations. David knew what it is to wait upon the Lord. He was anointed to be king at the age of 16 years but did not ascend the throne till he was 30 year. In-between a lot happened most of which threatened his life. I am sure most of us are conversant with the story of David. In all the storms of his life, the Lord saw him through.

Whatever prophecies we may have received, like David, let us use the waiting period to know God intimately. Waiting period is not easy at all, but the Lord is the strength of our lives. During the waiting period we may fight life threatening spiritual battles, sometimes physical bad experiences. In our nation today, we are facing the waiting period and it seems it is endless. It seems God has not heard our prayers. A period with harrowing experiences. God knows what we are facing, he knows the beginning and the ending. Nigeria and Nigerians will come out of these experiences good, because God will transform lives and turn things around for good for us. Amen. God is worth patiently waiting upon with endurance, although full of compassion, he is a fair judge, and he is in complete control. Most times God uses our waiting period to refresh our relationship with him, renew our strength, to teach us things we need to know against the future, and to reveal deep and secret things of life to us (Lam. 3:24-26).

Remember, let us make good use of our patient waiting period, rediscover the God whom we serve, God will reveal a lot of secret things to us, he will heal, save, transform lives, and teach us wisely. Taste and see that the Lord is good, he loves and cares for us all. His thought towards us all is good. This is why he asks us to be appreciative of him at all times. But this is a bitter pill to swallow, considering what we have all gone through and still passing through. All will be well in Jesus name.
