The Kingdom of God is for everyone. Yes EVERYONE. No one is excluded who wishes to come in. And no one shall be included who deserves to be left out. But there is something that we are mostly unclear about. We sometimes desire that some people should be left out of God’s blessings because their lives are far from Godly. Jesus tells us that there is enough room in the vineyard for everyone to work from the first to the last hour of the day. And everyone will be rewarded with the same gift because God is generous (Matthew 20:1-16). God does not hate anyone He has created, and neither should you.

What is the basis of your hatred for evil people in the first place? That we are fighting for God? That those who hate God should be despised? That those who do not worship God the way you do are despicable? Because they insult Catholic teachings as pagan and idolatrous, they are damned? Because they actively pursue causes that are injurious to human life and offend the Christian faith, should they rot in hell? How are you different from those you accuse of irreligion when you sound exactly like them?

No one who does evil thinks they are doing evil. Think about that for a second. Most people do whatever they do because they believe that they are making the best decision. Why do you even think that your “good actions” are not laced with selfishness? Isn’t it selfish to love God because of the good things He gives to you? But, does God hate you for that? No. He only looks forward to a time when you will be free from your ignorance and embrace knowledge and truth, and love Him as your God. He is willing to wait no matter how long it takes. Love waits, and only love can set others free. If God can be patient with you in all the phases and transitions of your earthly pilgrimage, why can’t you take a little insult for Him?

Here are a few things you should bear in mind:

  • God permits evil only because He knows that a greater good will come out of it (think St Paul).

  • God has not made you judge over anyone. He only calls you to love them.

  • If you truly believe in the power of prayer, pray for those who are evil.

  • Lead where you are and never bury your gifts.

  • Wherever possible, correct people’s wrong impressions about Christian teachings with love.

  • Do not descend so low as to hate anyone for any reason, even if they deserve it.

  • In the end, God will redeem all our good actions, no matter how poorly we may have done them.

  • Thank God for your faith and strive to walk in it daily and flee from sin of any kind.

  • There is not enough time to love God and your neighbour. Do not waste it on hatred and malice.

  • God will give you the graces and favour necessary for each day. Trust Him to come through for you.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully seek out a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor, or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Eternal Father, source of all happiness, peace and love. Give me deep love for those who blaspheme Your Holy name. Help me, by my life, to show others that You are worthy of love and worship. Amen.

  2. Eternal Father, Source of all love and peace. Fill my heart with the Spirit of love for you and my neighbour.

  3. May I desire only the good of others and never be party to anyone's downfall. Amen.
