Today’s Reading:

Rom 8 : 35 – 39

Beloved, we have been called to a faith which is a matter of life. That life looks at death in the face and laughs it to scorn. The rules of that faith supersede persecution, peril, or famine. Jesus made it plain enough that He would have no use for those who are not ready to lay down their lives for Him and forsake all.

Belonging to Christ is a great privilege. Paul in the knowledge of this, expressed such in Romans 8 : 35 he valued his relationship with Christ. He was challenging the world and the devil; he was daring the devil to do his worst. Nothing, he said, could separate him from the love of Christ The best comfort that the world could offer, or the worst torment hell could muster were not even enough to shake his faith in Christ.

History of early Christianity records that many followers of Jesus were killed and thrown to wild animals to satisfy the blood thirstiness of their pagan persecutors. But those precious Christians grained their Souls. They chose to lose their human lives when a simple act of renunciation would have saved them. But it is a pity today, the faith has been reduced to a means of getting the good things of life and many Christians are unschooled in faithfulness and the sacrificial life. All they want to hear is how to believe God for a big house or for the best car, when persecution comes, they deny Him.

You have been called to follows Christ under any condition. I want you to know that the Lord reward the faithful abundantly and He will reward you if you remain faithful.

OLORUNJUWONLO AKINTOLA
