Psalm 51:3-4,12-15

Hebrews 5:7-9

John 12:20-33

Pain is not your portion. But if pain is the only option, will you take it? Jesus prays to the Father, “Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say: Father, save me from this hour? But it was for this very reason that I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” (John 12:27). The Lenten season is summarized in this prayer of Jesus.

Our desire to be like Jesus entails letting go of ourselves, putting our sinful desires to death and walking in the footsteps of Christ who fasted and prayed for forty days. Jesus did battle against the flesh, the world and the Devil. He triumphed over them. If we desire a similar victory, we too must do battle with our ancient foe and win. Victory is assured for you in Jesus’ name.

It is normal that we fear the pain that comes with putting our selfish inclinations to death. Jesus was troubled at the thought of this. But he did something about it: “Christ offered up prayer and entreaty, aloud and in silent tears, to the one who had the power to save him out of death, and he submitted so humbly that his prayer was heard” (Hebrews 5:7). Do you pray about your fears? Do you draw strength from the sacraments of the Church? Do you draw inspiration from the Word of God? As you pray and seek the strength that God alone gives, may you be renewed in grace always in Jesus’ name.

You are in safe hands when you turn to God:

  • God alone can extract gain from pain.

  • Transform sorrow into renewal.

  • Give glory to the lonely.

  • Destroy barriers through prayers.

  • Change tribulations to jubilations.

  • Cause those who weep to leap with joy.

  • And turn Good Friday to Easter Sunday.

Let us journey with Christ, uniting our sorrows with His and look forward to the Father’s glory as He says to us, “I have glorified it and I will glorify it again” (John 12:28). Let your joy come from giving God glory in every aspect of your life. 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “Seek the good of others. So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.”

  • Let my words speak of Your glory.

  • Let my marriage and relationships reflect Your glory.

  • Let the use of my gifts be for Your glory.

  • Let my pains be a share in Your glory.

  • Let my celebrations attest to Your glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud: Father, thank you for Jesus Christ. Forgive my sins, take control of my heart and lead me in your righteous path by the power of Your Holy Spirit.  Thank You Lord.”

If you said the prayer,   Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest

Prayer:

  1. May God transform your pain to gain, your trials to triumph and use you to heal the injured and mend all broken friendships and relationships and make you always ready for eternal life and happiness through Christ our Lord. Amen.
