Today's Reading:

Psalm 42:1-2

"As the heart pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: When shall I come and appear before God?" (Psalm 42:1-2 AKJV)

Every living tree survives on oxygen among other things required for their survival. Likewise, air is indispensable to the life of every man. The psalmist knows that his survival absolutely depends on the presence of the Almighty God in his life. Beloved, there is no survival, victory, joy and happiness for any living being outside the presence of God. We all need Him in our lives for survival, even at the point of death. No wonder, in the Book of Job14:7 the Bible says, "For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease".

The only thing that scares the presence of God away from us is sin and iniquity in man. Outside sin and iniquity, anytime we feel downcast or spiritually exhausted, let us always pant after Him. By this, verse 8 of our working text will be fulfilled in our lives. "Yet the LORD will command His loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.”

I pray that as we pant before Him to satisfy Him and enjoy our lives here on earth, He shall appear in our situations, in the name of Jesus.
