Today’s Reading:
Number 16:41-50
Murmuring! This is a low or indistinct continuous sound, a subdued or private expression of discontent or dissatisfaction, to grumble or complain or show dissatisfaction very quietly. The above definition ushers us into today’s topic, it is good to be vocal when you come across certain ills in the society or any abnormalities in life after all Proverbs 31:8 says: "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed." (NLT) and Ephesians 5:11 - "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." (KJV) and many more biblical verses which encourage us to speak out like the new slogan in our nation, Nigeria the "soro soke" generation in the #endsars protest in October 2020, but usually it comes with a prize. Some people murmured against God because of various challenges like the threat of Covid-19 virus which has killed millions around the world, rape victims, kidnapping, banditry attacks, insurgency/ insecurity ( IPOB, Boko Haram), marital battery, economic and/ financial constraints and so on.
However, despite all these real and imaginary threats of danger and the likes, we as human beings have no moral standing to lead an agitation against the most high God or even his servants. A man of God was caught in the act with a married woman by the husband on their matrimonial bed and the husband descended on the mam of God, beating him blue-black and not long after, the husband of the woman died. "Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm." (Psalm 105:15, KJV). And "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." (Romans 12:19, KJV). The people gathered against Moses and Aaron after the death of Korah and co. who ganged up to a contest of supremacy before God against his servants and this displeased God greatly. His anger immediately went out to consume the sympathizers, loyalists, and murmurers. Why Murmur, why rebel, why contend with God or his anointed or chosen vessels when you can pray because prayer is a communication between God and man ( you have the right to ask questions in the place of prayer).
Murmuring against God, leading a protest and agitation against the Lord's anointed is a sin and most importantly with grave consequences and death as seen in today's passage. But rather be earnest and disciplined in your prayers, show and shower deep love and affection on each other, cheerfully share your home and substance with those in dire need, do not muscle down others with the God-given gifts, remember freely you received it, freely give.
Be a good standard for others to follow just as apostle Paul said " follow me as I follow Christ"

Prayer points.
Thank you, Lord, for a new day, with a word to guide my steps and actions, in Jesus name.
Jesus, regardless of the happenings within and around me, may I not have any reason to murmur against you or your anointed one, in Jesus name.
Father, create in me a clean heart, and renew a right and humble spirit within me, in Jesus name.
Father, uproot anything You have not planted in Your Church, and revive Your Pentecostal revival, in Jesus name.
Father, if our nation is not in Your plan for this season, rearrange things, bring our nation into the center of Your plan, and let your name be glorified, in Jesus name.
