Psalm 66:8-20;
Genesis 6:5-22;
Acts 27:1-12
We all need the mercy of God in our lives to fulfil our purpose in life and gain eternal life. All our righteousness are like filthy rags before God. Isaiah 64:6. The Lord God daily loaded us with benefits because of his mercies. Mercy of God means forgiveness or withholding punishment. God the father showed mercy on us when he sacrificed his son Jesus Christ for us on the Cross of Calvary.
The songwriter puts it vividly when he sang thus - “mercy there was great and grace was free pardon there was multiplied to me. There my burden soul found liberty at Calvary.” A Christian must not forget the unique episode at Calvary. Proverbs 28:13 reminds us of the need to confess and forsake our sins and not cover it so that we can obtain mercy and prosper. Isaiah 30:18 is quick to remind us of how gracious our God is and is ready to show us mercy only if we wait for him and ask for it for, he is a God of Justice. The thief at the cross who was destined for hell fire obtained compassion from God and he is now in paradise. David asked for mercy after committing adultery with Bathsheba and killed her husband Uriah in the process. But he asked for mercy in Psalm 51 and God granted it to him. Blind Bartimaeus cried for mercy and he received his sight.
Like David it is time for us to ask for mercy everyday of our lives by crying unto him in prayer and singing. The Psalmist in Psalm 89:1 proclaimed that he will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever. Ask for the mercy of God today and your joy shall be full in Jesus name.

Prayer:
O Most High, we dwell in Your secret place, and are abiding under the shadow of the Almighty, in Jesus name.
Your foundation O Lord is in Your holy mountains; Glorious things are spoken of You O city of God!
Mercy of God fall upon me and my family now, in the name of Jesus.
Oh Lord of Mercy, let your glory overshadow my life, in the name of Jesus.
Mercy of God that cannot be understood fall upon me and my family in the name of Jesus.
Oh Lord by your mercy cleanse Your Church of all unrighteousness, in the name of Jesus.
Let your mercy Oh Lord overshadow this nation, in the name of Jesus.
