LOVE FOR JESUS CHRIST

Today’s Reading:

John 20:11-20 (17)

Jesus said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.” (v.17, NKJV)

You cannot cling or have a love for Jesus unless you have an encounter with Him. Many of us promised Jesus when we first had an encounter with Him that His love will continue to burn in our hearts. What is your state of love for Jesus? Mary Magdalene had an encounter with Jesus when seven demon spirits were cast out from her (Mark 16:9), and since she had this encounter, Christ’s love never quenched from her heart. In John 20:17, “Jesus saith unto her, touch me not; …” since Mary Magdalene met Jesus, the love of Christ and love for Christ remained in her because she remained in Christ. Many of us when we first met Christ, had a love for Jesus, but when we had the comfort of life, the love disappeared.

Mary Magdalene became an object of the divine instrument in God’s hand. She was the one that first saw Jesus after His resurrection and brought the good tidings to the disciples, because of her love for Christ. Are you an instrument in God’s hand? Is your love for Christ growing every day? Remember, in 2Corinthians 5:14, Paul said: “For the love of Christ compel us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.” In essence, all that Paul and his companions did was for the love of Christ to honour God. Christ’s love controlled their lives. If Christ’s love compelled us by dying for all, we should no longer live for ourselves, but for Him who died for all and rose again.

A heart of eternity is a heart of love for Jesus Christ!

Prayer:

  1. Father empower me to see Jesus more clearly in all that I do, love Him more dearly, and follow Him more nearly, every day, in Jesus name.

  2. Father, create in me a pure heart, renew a right and humble spirit within me, in Jesus name.

  3. We pull down every stronghold of ignorance, powerlessness, prayerlessness, self-centeredness, and vainglory in the lives of the saints, in Jesus name.

  4. Every evil establishment and satanic tree in our nation, be uprooted by fire, in Jesus name.
