Today’s Reading:
Psalms 29:1-11
“Honour the LORD, you heavenly beings; honour the LORD for His glory and strength. 2 Honour the Lord for the glory of His name. Worship the LORD in the splendour of His holiness” (vv. 1-2)
This is a very powerful Psalm in praise of God who is praised as God of glory, power, and holy splendour (v1-2). The glory of God depicts His awesomeness. It also speaks of His greatness and overwhelming beauty or splendour. The glory of God reveals His presence or His manifestation in the midst of His people. In another word, God’s glory expresses the invisible manifestation of the power of God among His Children even when it is not possible to see Him with the naked eye. On the other hand, God strength talks about His power to accomplish that which seems impossible for man. It also emphasizes God’s ability to defend His own in time of trouble. The states that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Whenever God’s glory appears, there is usually quietness to every raging storm. It opens a man spiritual eyes to become sensitive to his spiritual status. When Isaiah saw the glory of God, he discovered his short coming and urgently amended his way with God (Isaiah 6:5-6). In your moment of weakness and despair, remember that God can give you strength (Isaiah 40:29). He has control over every situation.
To experience God’s glory and strength, you need to acknowledge Him and trust His power to do all things (Psalm 96:7-8). Have you recognized your helplessness and powerlessness without Jesus? Ask the Lord to help you. The Lord is the source of strength and gives to His people (v.11)
