Today’s Reading:

Judges 6:11-24a

“Pardon me, my lord, Gideon replied, but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” (v. 15; NIV)

Throughout the journey of the Israelites, they usually had one issue or another at every point. They are a group of people that easily forget what God has just done. Due to their inconsistency in their walk with God, God usually called them back home by handing them over to their enemies to punish them. Whenever they repented, God would forgive, and they would start enjoying the goodness of God again. They were in the same scenario at this point in their walk with God. God allowed the Midianites to punish them, and it was seriously suffering.

God needed to release them from the hands of their enemy, but he could do that without the instrumentation of man. An angel was sent to them. God saw in Gideon great strength to deliver the nation of Israel at that point in time, but the way heaven saw Gideon wasn’t the way he saw himself. Gideon saw his clan as the weakest and himself as the least in his family. What a limitation to possess one possession? As long as Gideon sees himself that way he wouldn’t be able to go and deliver his people. Humanly speaking, Gideon is too small to conquer the Midianites but as far as heaven is concerned, the strength he possessed was enough to destroy the people and bring great deliverance to his people.

What do you see about yourself? Do you see yourself as a failure that cannot pass that particular exam? Heaven sees you as a success. Do you see yourself as a barren woman? Heaven sees you as a fruitful woman with a set of twins. Do you think you cannot complete that project? It has been completed in the heart of God long before the foundation of the world. What is it that you see as a limitation? Heaven sees it as a steppingstone to your greatness. Rise now and possess your possession because you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. You are more than conquerors through him that loves you.
