Today’s Reading:
Romans 8: 1-11
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.” (v. 1)

Life in the Spirit started when the life in the Adamic nature terminates and that is the point of salvation (II Corinthians 5:1, John 3:3, 6-7). Starting the journey in the Spirit is good, continuing in that journey is better while finishing the race still in that path is the best. Not all who started the life in the spirit actually keep in step with the master so as to continue strong and finish well.
Apostle Paul ended Chapter Seven of the Book of Romans with a life of struggle. A life that wants to please God but finds it difficult to do. This is the kind of life some Christians are living. But in Chapter Eight which is our focus, he started by saying that therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, that is, those who are not walking according to the dictates of the flesh (Galatians 5: 1-21) but according to the Spirit (Holy Spirit). To live a fruitful life, it is not by strength or human principles or philosophies; it is by living IN CHRIST (John 15:4-5). Life in the Spirit means living in Christ, being connected to Him every moment of our lives reading, studying, meditating, memorising, and living the life of the scriptures, doing nothing without asking for His permission. It is a life totally and wholly for Jesus. It means not giving the flesh a chance in our lives. Living in the spirit calls for setting our minds on things above and allowing the Spirit of Christ to dwell in us (Colossians 3).
There is nothing we do in the flesh that has eternal value. We must live in the Spirit all the time. This does not mean we will not be earthly useful, or we should embark on fasting every day because we want to live in the Spirit. To live in the Spirit calls for, but not limited to the following Present your members to Christ (Romans 6:12-13), Guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23), be soaked in the Word of God (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:1-3), (Colossians 3:16). For those who are being led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God. Are you a child of God?
