God is interested in all that you do. He is interested in your every moment. He is interested in every little thing you are involved in—your work, your play, your rest, your work, your relationships, the way you eat, your laughter, your choice of drink, your taste in food and music, what you decide to wear, the places you go to, the kind of people you connect with, your preferred mode of transportation, the fact that you love to chat more than speaking on the phone. All these things are important to God. Why is it important to Him?

Our life is important to God because our happiness is in becoming more like Him. Jesus says to those following him who wanted bread, “Do not work for food that cannot last, but work for food that endures to eternal life, the kind of food the Son of Man is offering you, for on him the Father, God himself, has set his seal…This is working for God: you must believe in the one he has sent" (John 6:22-29). Jesus is not condemning work—He says WORK SMART. Your work should not turn you into an addict, always returning for more and more stuff.

Do not live like an addict. Live in such a way that you are built up to be self-reliant, aware and able to give to others from the wealth of the grace you have received from God. Chasing after Jesus because we need things is the old way of life we must abandon. To live smart is to do all the things we love through God, with God, in God and for God. The difference between living for ourselves and living for God is faith in Jesus Christ. Exercise your faith this week through a conscious surrender of all that you are and all you do to Jesus who wants to take care of you and bless you.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Lord, help me to evolve in my relationship with you.

  2. Help me to come to you not simply to meet my needs but so that I may grow strong in You and do all things for love of you.

  3. Keep me connected to Your grace, let me rest in Your presence and live daily for you in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

  4. I pray that all that you do today May give glory to God as you unite every thought, word and action of your with His divine will.

  5. You are blessed beyond measure in Jesus' name. Amen.
