“WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?” This is the only question in the world that has a unique answer for each person. Jesus Christ asks you this question today: Who am I to you? No one else can answer it for you. But like any other question, there are clues that will help you answer it. In fact, there are two clues. They are: You need an encounter with God. And you need to know why God created you.

God is everything you are not. All the best thing that you aspire to be already exists in God. An encounter with Him sets you on the right path to realizing yourself. In order to encounter God, you have to understand the second clue – the purpose for which God created you. We go wrong because we think that God is like us. Yes, He made us in His image but sin has disfigured that image. When you acknowledge your sins and repent of them, you begin your journey towards encountering Him.

God made us to know, love and serve Him (KLS – this is holiness!), so that we in turn we can make Him known and loved. An encounter with God leads to evangelisation. We are hardwired to share what we know. If we know God, we shall tell others about Him. We do not tell others about God because we have not encountered Him. Ask God in prayer to reveal Himself to you. Say, “Lord, please show yourself to me so that I may know and love you”.

  • The first key to encounter God is DESIRE FOR GOD. Develop an appetite for God and He will visit you.

  • Treasure SILENCE. God does not like noise.

  • Flee from SIN. Do not entertain sin either knowingly or unknowingly.

  • STUDY THE WORD OF GOD. If you do, you will know what God wants for you (Jer 29:11).

  • FLEE FROM HATRED. Hatred is continuous anger. God cannot dwell in a heart that is filled with anger and empty of love. May God deliver you from a spirit of anger in Jesus’ name.

  • SPEND TIME IN PRAYER (a living conversation with a living God). Those who kneel before God shall tower in greatest over anyone. They shall be like Eliakim son of Hilkiah and Simon Peter whom God exalted and gave authority to bind and lose.

  • STAY HUMBLE. Never be puffed up with pride. Humility attracts divine blessing. A proud person is a friend of the Devil. You are not the Devil’s friend in Jesus’ name. May God rebuke every enemy and obstacle to your salvation through Christ our Lord. Amen.
