Today’s Reading:
Luke 5:1-11
“Master Simon replied, we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so. I’II let the net down again.” (Luke 5:5, NLT)
Your story today does not have the capacity to determine what you will be or where God will be taking you tomorrow. Sometimes, the insensitivity of who has the final say over your life may result to depression, disappointment or discouragement. However, one thing is sure, since God is your maker and owns you, He has the final say over your life. It is understandable that there is no time limit or expiration to what God can do in your life. This is because God’s power begins where human power stops. That was the story of Peter read in our today’s text, when he thought all hope was gone, the Lord appeared at the eleventh hour; rescued and restored his hope. Our Lord is a story changer, mountain mover and miracle worker. This same God will also manifest Himself in your situation and change your story today.
As you consider this text, you need to understand that Jesus’ work begins where human power or effort stops v5a. “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing.” (NLT) In the second place, God’s favour terminates human labour v.5a. When God’s favour is in force, God will usually make a way where there seems to be no way. Like Jesus displayed in the life of Peter, when a man is enjoying divine favour, the Lord will usually put a mark of distinction upon the works of his hand. In the third place, God has the final say over your situation v.5b “But if you say so. I’II let the net down again.” When all else fails, the word of God which is settled in heaven cannot fail. His Word is “Yes” and “Amen.” Fourthly, Jesus has the solution to your challenges v.6 “And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their nets brake.” (NLT) This is what Peter could not achieve through his personal effort. This was a supernatural experience. If you can also rely on Him, He will give you the needed solution to your challenges. In the fifth place, His presence can destabilise every barrier to success and progress v.7. “A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.” (NLT) Jesus has a way of removing your limitation and redirecting every blessing that is meant for you to locate you. Lastly, His power can turn every negative situation around vv.7-9 “For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes they had taken.” (KJV).
Perhaps you are also thinking like Peter that all hope is gone. Are you having a feeling that your present situation is bad with no solution in sight? Let me remind you that it is not over with you yet. The power of Jesus is also available to turn things around for you. If you can just trust Him and lean on His promises, you will also experience a net breaking testimony.
Be confident, it’s not over yet!
