Today’s Reading:

Psalm 75

“For promotion and power come from nowhere on earth, but only from God. He promotes one and deposes another.” (Psalm 75:6-7)

ree

A man can receive nothing except it is given from heaven (John 3:27). It is the blessing of the Lord that makes one rich without adding sorrow (Proverbs 10:22). Promotion is not by chance, effort, or connections; it's by divine will. God is the judge; He brings down one and lifts another. People often look to their connections, location, or effort. But God says promotion comes from Me. He’s the ultimate Judge. He puts down the proud and lifts the humble. So instead of pushing your way up, seek God's approval. Without God, absolutely nothing a man can receive. Though hard work is the antidote to poverty, they say, a lot of people are working so hard yet remain poor. Men struggle through life to achieve success in all their endeavours, but one common denominator to any tangible thing that can be achieved in life is God. Take God out of the equation, and then the rest is nothing.

If you want to be lifted, don't climb; rather, kneel. God lifts those who wait patiently and walk righteously. This verse intentionally leaves out the north — because symbolically, God’s throne is in the north (Isaiah 14:13). It means that no human direction is the source of real promotion. It doesn’t come from your boss. Not from a godfather or connection. Not even from your hustle. The psalmist is destroying the illusion that we control our rise. If God doesn’t help you, men can’t help you. It is God who compels men to rise for your help. Stop begging men, for they have little or nothing to offer. Beg your creator in the place of prayers and relationship with him to lift you. You have looked down for long on men for promotion, it’s time to look up to God like the psalmist says in chapter 121, l will lift my eyes unto the hills from where cometh my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth. Hallelujah.

It is dangerous to place your trust in people for promotion. People may forget, fail, or fall. But when God lifts you, no one can bring you down. That job, that ministry, that relationship, that platform, if it's God-given, it will be God-sustained. Beloved, don’t strive for earthly ladders to climb. Strive for God’s approval. Your time of lifting will come, not from east, west, or south but from the throne of grace. If you are in a season of waiting, trust the Judge. He sees, He knows, and He never forgets. Don’t compromise your faith, live righteously, serve him faithfully, and wait patiently upon the Lord. Delay is not denial, and you shall sing a new song in Jesus' name.

JAMES ALADE

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. I receive grace to wait upon God in Jesus' name.

  2. Oh God, you are the lifter of heads, lift me in due season in Jesus' name

  3. Let my promotion come by fire in Jesus' name

  4. Powers delaying my promotion die without remedy in Jesus' name

  5. Enough is enough, let my destiny helpers locate me speedily in Jesus' name.
