Today’s Reading:

Psalm 62: 5-12

“He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defense. I will not be moved.” (Psalm 62:6)

A story was told of one old man who was a merchant of goats and rams. One young man came to him one day to buy a particular goat which he paid for and promised to come back to take his goat. This young man didn’t return to ask for his goat until after three weeks. When he came back, he introduced himself to the old man and demanded his goat, the man said he had sold that particular goat. The young man requested for refund, but the old man insisted on giving him another goat. Due to this, a misunderstanding ensued as the old man started calling on people to warn the young man because he was ready to give him to the gods. Before you say, Jack Robinson, a crowd gathered, and they were pacifying the young man not to waste his destiny, but he was adamant. The old man started chanting different incantations but to the surprise of onlookers, the young man didn’t move an inch. People were waiting and watching to see what the end of the drama would be being staged whether tragedy or comedy. After the old man finished his incantation, the young man asked him if that was all and he started his incantations.

Before he finished, the old man quickly went inside and gave him his money. Imagine unbelievers putting so much trust in the evil power, the power that cannot stand the power of Almighty God. It is so shameful and painful that Christians cannot showcase the power of God and remain immovable in the face of evil and demonic powers. The psalmist was so confident that he said he would not be moved just like that young man in the story above. The psalmist mentioned three things in our memory verse that should be our anchor as Christians. They are ‘ROCK’, which signifies protection; ‘SALVATION’ meaning deliverance from danger and ‘DEFENSE’ which means to guide against any form of evil.

As you go this year, see God as your rock, salvation, and defense, with these in mind you will not be moved. You will stand firm and remain unshakable even more confident than the young man in the story. Challenges will come your way in the journey of life but I will advise you to memorize and activate Psalm 62:6 and you will remain steadfast because he honours his word more than his name. He will never deny his word.

                                                                                                JAMES ALADE

  1. I shall not be moved no matter the challenges of life.

  2. Oh Lord, empower me for the journey of life in Jesus' name.

  3. Oh Lord, teach my hands to fight and give victory on all sides in Jesus' name.

  4. Arrows of the wicked ones, targeted against my destiny scatter by fire in Jesus' name.

  5. Negative utterances (Spell, incantations, curses, and so on) uttered against me and my household, shall not prosper in Jesus' name.
