I MUST BE RICH

Today’s Reading:

I Timothy 6: 3 - 21

But godliness with contentment is great gain.” (v.6)

But you will remember the LORD your God, for it is HE who is giving you power to get wealth (Deut. 8:18). A man can receive nothing except it be given him from heaven (John 3:27). I must be rich syndrome, by all means; at any cost is the order of the day now especially among youths. Several have gone to the grave untimely because of running after riches and wealth.

We cannot overrule the standard of the scriptures as far as being wealthy or rich is concerned. Money is good but the love of it is evil. To be rich, one must first and foremost be godly then add contentment (verse 6). There must be understanding that we brought nothing into this world and we can’t take away anything (verse 7). We should be content with basic necessities of life (verse 8). We must not crave to be rich (verse 9). We must not love money (verse 11). Fight the good fight of the faith.

An attempt to deviate from the biblical standard of getting rich, one is heading towards doom and destruction and those who are rich should not be highly minded or trust in the uncertainly of riches but in the living God who richly gives us all things to enjoy.

JAMES ALADE
