HYPOCRISY IS WICKEDNESS

Today’s Reading:

PSALM 50:16-23

"But God says to the wicked: Recite my laws no longer, and don’t pretend that you obey me.”

(Psalm 50:16 N LT)

The reference in the anchor verse was to those ministers of the gospel who teach the WORD, but whose lifestyles are wholly inconsistent with the true service in the Kingdom of God – the “do as I say” and “not as I do” Church leaders. The idea is that they who teach the word of God should themselves be examples of purity and holiness.

Hypocrisy is wickedness which God will judge. It is not uncommon for those who teach the word to others to live in disobedience to the word themselves. This delusion arises from the abuse of God’s patience. It is a deliberate misunderstanding of God’s character and the intention of God’s gospel. It is sinful and the consequences of sins will be visited on the sinners on the day of judgment. Let those wicked sinners who often take God for granted think twice and consider the serious and urgent danger they are facing.

The patience of the Lord is very great. But if sinners refuse to turn away from their wicked ways, they shall be made to see their error when it is too late. Those that forget God forget themselves and it will never be right with them, except they change from their evil ways before judgment time.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. I possess the spirit of obedience by fire in Jesus’ name.

  2. The spirit of disobedience shall not prevail over my life in Jesus’ name.

  3. I shall serve the Lord in truth and spirit in Jesus’ name.
