Today’s Readings:
Revelation 14:1-5; Psalm 24:1-6; Luke 21:1-4
What does God desire of us?
Does God desire 10 percent of your time, resources and gifts? Or is it 50 percent of all we have? The truth is that God desires a hundred percent of us all the time. Why? Because He created us, and we are made for Him. All that we have and all that we are is His. Our whole life is made over to God; we are dedicated to Him.
A Lesson From Mary
Today's feast of Mary's dedication is an extension of the feast of Christ the King. And just like our Blessed Mother, from her infancy (by virtue of her Immaculate Conception), was dedicated to God and as she consciously dedicated herself entirely to God, we too ought to dedicate ourselves to Him as His followers and say, "Lord, I dedicate myself to you". Not just because we have been told that we are baptised and dedicated to God. We have to willingly re-dedicate ourselves to God daily.
Is it Worth the Sacrifice?
Saint Paul tells us in Romans 12:1, "Offer yourself to God as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him." Today's reading from the Book of Revelation says that we are marked with the names of Jesus and God the Father on our forehead, so that we are known and loved by God. We are part of the chosen 144,000 who are dedicated to God by a life of truth and holiness. Joy on earth is our lot and eternal happiness is assured.
What are Your Copper Coins?
In the Gospel, the poor widow offered to God all that she had to live on in the two copper coins she put in the temple treasury and Jesus praised her for that. This is the way we show our self-dedication to God such that in our daily life, all that we do is placed before God as an offering. All that we offer to God belongs to Him already the Psalmist tells us (Psalm 24:1).
Start With Your Desire.
Will and desire that everything you do today be an offering to God. Everything no matter how small or insignificant, no matter how grand and impressive, offer it up to God and He will bless it and bless you abundantly.
Lord, I place myself in Your hands. I offer myself, my work, my thoughts and actions today over to You. And I will that it be a sacrifice pleasing to You.
