Today’s Reading:
Exodus 11:10.
"And Moses and Aaron did these wonders before Pharaoh: and the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land". (v. 10)
Hardened in the above scripture to me, refers to strong resistance to something, to toughen your heart towards God's law and commandments. Some scholars said that In the first five plagues, Pharaoh himself was responsible for his Hardening heart, some said it's only twice. Whichever, we all do not pray to go through the plagues like he did or end up like him and his people. The Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit cannot and will not tolerate a Hardened heart. A Hardened heart leads to destruction ALWAYS.
Let us examine few people in the Bible that Hardened their hearts apart from Pharaoh. Deut. 2: 30-33... Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate... The Israelites, on many occasions, Hardened their hearts... through the wilderness, even after...Jeremiah 7:26; 19:15; Isaiah 63:17; Belshazzar, Daniel 5:22-28. Through the teachings of our Lord Jesus... Mark 6:52; Mark 8:17 (note here, that these were the disciples, Believers of the Gospel, children of the kingdom)... Hebrews 3:13 nailed it straight on the head ..."But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be Hardened through the DECEITFULNESS OF SIN." The Lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the father, but of the world, And the World passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. ( 1John 2:16-17).
It is all around us, even the blind could feel the rottenness and filthiness of sin, and unfortunately, we are part of the system. We hardened our hearts, thinking Jesus’ coming is later, not knowing that it's upon us. We celebrate and romance the world in murmuring, complaining, walking after our lusts, speaking falsehood, lovers of men, not of God and having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof, from these and more the Bible admonished us to turn away. Would you rather not be different? Stand away from the world, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEART. Ask for the help of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, our help in ages past, He shall give you the grace to obey and abide by God's law. Preach the Word, evangelise, testify of God's faithfulness. It is well with you in Jesus name.
