Today’s Reading:
Psalms 119:49-56
“This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.” (v. 50)
Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible; it is divided into 22 sections based on Hebrew alphabets with eight verses each. This chapter explores the word of God and it gives it different names; some of them are: commands, commandment, law, precept, instructions etc. The Law in this context can be likened to the word of God. It is God's desire that His word will work to fulfil a definite mandate in the lives of his people. The word of God is as powerful as God, His word is not inferior in ability to His personal ability because they proceed from his mouth and just as the scriptures declares in Isaiah 55:11 - "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." The word of the Lord is empowered to accomplish great things.
Hebrews 4:12 declares "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." The writer of the Hebrew declares that the word is living and powerful. Remember John 1:1 declares, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." The word is God and can be relied upon. With the situation of things going on around the world, the only source of comfort and assurance for a better tomorrow is the word of God. It is worthy to be relied on.
Study it, Meditate on it and Pray the word and you will testify to it's awesome working power. God told Joshua what the outcome of meditation will be: Joshua 1:8 - "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Believers must be confident of the possibilities of God's word and rely on it completely.

Prayer:
Help me to search Your word daily, in Jesus name.
May my soul not find rest on daily basis until I search Your Word, in Jesus name.
May I perpetually find comfort in Your Word, in Jesus name.
Any other source or sources of authority contending with the Word of God in my life, lose your grip now, in Jesus name.
