Today’s Reading:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-13
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (v.1 NIV)
God works with time though He is timeless Himself. He’s got a schedule per person and activities per time. Man is made to stand in God’s plan, purpose and His precision, but we tend to watch our hand watch, check the wall clock and ignore God’s time. This in essence gets us agitated, impatient, unsettled, emotionally drained, ruffled and untested.
David got a grip on circumstances of life when he says in Psalm 38:15: “But for you, O LORD, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.”
He knows that life has its waiting room.
It can be such a very distressing and stressful moment in time, when you have a loved one or a family member who is in critical care in a hospital, or you are in queue to undergo a surgical or other medical procedure. A difficult moment; as you are MADE to stay in the “Waiting room”. This room made as possibly a peaceful and comfortable environment for all who wait by the care provider, it can as well serve as a school where you learn to adhere to the dictate of people in charge, and learn what you would and would not like to learn about.
Waiting Room LCD screens keep rolling informing and entertaining “those that wait” reminding them of the credentials and services of providers on site, educating them about the procedures. The jingles roll more than ten times in fifteen minutes depending on the length of recording. They automatically have a dramatic impact on your thinking and memory so much that you get acquainted to the reel and can recite, piggyback, and predict the words or lines of the voices in the reel.
At the onset of the wait, you keep staring at this screen like your life depends on it, gradually it becomes of no interest, gets boring, and eventually annoying… You become sick and tired of the environs, you rock in your chair more than your mother rocked you to sleep in your whole life as a child, the swing of the door pumps more blood into your veins… BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO WAIT!
….. Nothing is of essence at this juncture but a new strength.
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.”(Isaiah. 40:31)
Where is your strength failing you?
How am I crushed?
Who is being perplexed?
Why are we losing our hearts?
in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
More than anything else, let us feed ourselves with the word, internalise, recite, eat and chew on the word when we grow weary in the waiting room.
As our hope shrinks and our interest deteriorates in the In our waiting rooms, let us snap out of self pity and refocus on the greater power in the Lord. As “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair’. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
In our waiting rooms let us educate ourselves of the good and past deeds of the Most High, what He is doing, and reassure ourselves that He is still more than able. “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
In our waiting rooms, how can we lend a hand in the midst of our own want. “Let us not become weary waiting room, folks let us grow on our knees. Call upon the Lord, tell it to God, give it to God, leave it to God, … "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
Thank God for His perfect plans, His perfect timing for He makes things beautiful in His own time, and He does it in the perfect way.
Our Growth is made perfect in our times of waiting.
