GOD REMEMBERS HIS COVENANT

Today’s Reading:

1Cor10:1-13

"But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also listed. Neither be ye idolaters, answered some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and we're destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." (vv. 5-12, KJV)

Warnings from Israelites history, is a warning to all that, it is only God we need to obey and do His perfect will at all times, for His covenant of peace to be for us. Our God is a God of covenant, which He has been going with His children right from creation of this world.

Covenant is an agreement between two or more people to carry out an assignment. It is a promise made between who are into one contract or task. The benefits of covenants are great, when fulfilled positively, but when it is broken the consequences of it can be devastating. God made covenant with Abraham and the subsequent generations that followed. The LORD fulfilled His own part of the covenant as Abraham was obedient to Him and He blessed him .Some of subsequent generations after Abraham especially the Israelites that came out the land of Egypt to the wilderness, they started going after strange gods in the land which they sojourned. But God being a covenant keeping God remember His promises to their forefathers, saved them but not without some punishments meted out to them. These were examples for us to be obedient to God, faithful to Him, follow Him only and worship Him to be able to fulfil His covenant of peace success, joy etc irrespective of what we face.
