GOD CONTROLS RULERS

TODAY’S READING:

EZRA 1 :1-11

In the first year of Cyrus King of Persia, in order to fulfil the word of the Lord Spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus King of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and to put it in writing: 2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The Lord God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah” (vv. 1-2)

God raises up Cyrus , a pagan king to supply what is necessary and lead to the rebuilding of the House of God in Israel.

This should not surprise us because elsewhere in the Scriptures, we are told that God rules over the affairs of nations- that He raises kings up and He casts kings down. Proverbs say : “ The King’s heart is in the hands of the Lord, like the rivers of water, He turns it wherever He wills”. God raises up people whom you would not normally think that anything good could come from them, to provide what is good for His people.

God cannot be limited. He can really use anything and anybody to do what He considers best for His people and His Glory. That is our God. A sovereign God.

Prayers:

  1. O Lord, in the exercise of your sovereign power, move the hearts of kings and rulers and let them go out of their ways to show favour unto believers in Jesus name.

  2. Father Lord, let men go out of their ways to show favour unto me in Jesus name.

  3. Anointing of uncommon favour, come upon my life and family in the name of Jesus.
