Today's Reading:
2Timothy1:12
"For the which cause, I also suffer these things: nevertheless, I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.” (v. 12 AKJV)
According to brother Paul in his words in verse 8 of our working Bible passage, he said, "Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me this prisoner but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God." His assertion is found in the word of Jesus Himself in John16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
Christianity is a religion of peace and as Christians, we need to enjoy the peace of the Lord. But what we have now is contrary. We are all operating in the world where lies, wickedness and all kinds of evils are institutionalised and where truthfulness is a taboo. The persecution meted on Christians most of the time is not only within the society, but within the household of God. On the basis of what happen in both the house of God and the society, our consciousness should be opened to the word of God concerning whom we believed to keep to the end all we have committed to Him in faith irrespective of what we are passing through.
Therefore, let us be conscious of the word of God, for us to be able to overcome the evils of the world.
