Today’s Reading:

Eccl. 3:1-13 (1)

"There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heavens -" (v.1 AMPV)

Solomon, the wise thinker, the teacher, the son of David and past king in Jerusalem is asking us that: what do we really get, gain or profit from our toil, our labour here on earth, which we put our whole energy to do and forget, neglect, disobey, disdain our Creator, the Sovereign God that has put us here on earth.

God has divinely appropriated time to events and seasons of our lives. We are subject to these times and changes because they all depend upon God's eternal sovereignty. We are being tantalize by God's beautiful, enormously big world and the task he has given to occupy us in which we find little or no satisfaction. Our lives are short because we were made for eternity. God has planted a sense of divine purpose, a mysterious longing in our hearts which nothing can satisfy unless we cheerfully find our way back to God. Yet we cannot understand or grasp this fact which is his overall plan from the beginning to the end.

It is only when we genuinely, cheerfully turn to God through Jesus Christ that we can find meaning, joy and peace to life.

Solomon has listed several events, activities of life and the realm of nature, which we do not have control over (vv. 2-8). It is our responsibility to live wisely in between events of our lives. Whatever changes life brings in our circumstances and obligations, we must by the help of the Spirit of God, responsibly and wisely discern what kind of commitments we should make; in all, we have the fear of God and seek whatever would be to his glory (1Corin. 10:31).

We do not allow ourselves to be deceived and confused by the lies of the enemy. The enemy's lies create fear and confusion in our hearts. They are lies because sooner or later we will come to realise the truth of God. When we continue to believe God and place our hopes and trust in him; bad and false things will ultimately give way to better and true things.

Whatever our aspirations, desires, longings, situations, challenges, trails let us remember there is time for everything. That good thing we are believing God for is on the way or right at

our doorstep. Our daily calling to commitment to Jesus Christ comes with fresh challenges to our lives.

Prayer:

  1. Father give me your wisdom to rightly know my priorities in every season and event of my life; guide all that I do to glorify your name, in Jesus name.

  2. Holy Ghost fire and power purge my foundation and sanctify my life for your use, in Jesus name.

  3. Power assigned against my spiritual life to pull me down from divine lofty height, you have failed, be frustrated and die, in Jesus name.

  4. Whomever Jesus has set free is free indeed. I am unstoppable, sky is the beginning of good things for me; Holy Ghost fire and power consume my life and destiny, in Jesus name.

  5. Father uproot everything you have not planted in your church and revive your Pentecostal fire and power, in Jesus name.

  6. Father, thank you for sustaining Nigeria with your power and fire. Give our leaders fresh hopes, vision, revelation, inspiration and direction to move the nation to the next level. Let there be love, peace and harmony of purpose, in Jesus name. Amen.
