FATHER, HAVE MERCY UPON OUR NATION

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 80:13-16

“The boar out of the wood doth waste it; and the wild beast of the field doth devour it. Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine; And the vineyard which thy right had hath planted, and the branch that thou made strong for thyself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.” (vv. 8-16 AKJV)

O Lord God of hosts, Thou that dwells in the midst of cherubim, stir yourself look down with mercy upon our nation, come down, rescue us, deliver and save us from the hands of the wicked who do not know Your or fear You. See what has happened to our once favoured nation. See what the arrogant and wicked power has done to our nation. Our nation is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance, O God of host, the Captain of heaven’s army, Come down from your throne and pass through our nation with your mercy and compassion.

If you know it, please join me to sing this Yoruba song (in the dialect of the South Western people of Nigeria), and pray as the Holy Spirit leads you. Also intercede for the salvation of the perishing souls. It is a penitent song asking for God’s mercy, f

orgiveness and intervention upon our land. Thank you.

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth. Before us and our nation stir up thy strength and come to save us. Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved. Amen.
