Psalm 98:1-4

John 14: 7-14

How would you feel if you woke up to a credit alert of one billion dollars? There are no words to describe the shock excitement and utter confusion that will engulf your mind for the best part of the day. Questions will dart across the hemispheres of your brain: “Who sent it?” “Was it an error?” “What do I do?” “Who do I call?” “What do I buy?” Jesus’ promise should feel you with the same excitement but not with confusion: “Whatever you ask for in my name I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask for anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:14).

Why does Jesus make such a promise?

He knows our needs and He understands that we will always require divine assistance. There should be no hesitation in us to ask for good things from God in His name. So, what are the things we can ask for? Jesus already answered it: WHATEVER, ask for anything but let it be worthy of your state as a Christian and let it be to the glory of His name.

Here are a few things I believe every one of us should ask for and hope to receive:

  • The Kingdom of God (and its righteousness—Matthew 6:33)

  • Eternal Life (John 17:3)

  • God’s blessings on our Families (Ephesian 3:14)

  • Divine Provision (Matthew 7:7)

  • For your spouse/intending spouse (Proverbs 19:14—"House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: And a prudent wife is from the LORD”)

  • For your loved ones (John 17:9)

  • For your enemies (Matthew 5:44)

  • For ongoing conversion (Luke 18:13-14)

  • For freedom from sin and temptation (Matthew 6:11-13)

  • For peace in our hearts and in the world (John 20:20-22)

  • For renewed faith and commitment to God’s work (Galatians 6:9)

  • For courage in the face of tribulation (Matthew 6:13)

God will certainly grant every good heart desire, no matter how impossible it may seem to you. Your doubt cannot stop God’s blessings, but your faith will speed it up. What blessings are you praying for today? Let your heart be connected to God and then ask for anything you want in Jesus’ name and it will be yours.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord .”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Lord Jesus, it is your desire to grant us every divine blessing. Let your name be always in my heart and on my lips. Let nothing ever separate me from your will. I am all yours, my King and my God. Amen.

  2. Lord Jesus, reign in my heart and let Your name always be on my lips. Fulfil your promise to me and meet me at every point of my needs. Amen.
