Relationships are the currency of social interaction. Your wealth of human experience is tied to the quality of people in your life. Who are those you meet daily? Who are the people who inspire or influence the way you think, the way you dress, what you eat and the places you go to? These people hold the key to your success or failure, salvation or condemnation. But let us stay positive. You want to be great, right? Watch the people around you. By this I mean, be intentional about your relationship with them. Some are placed over you (like parents and superiors). Others are placed on a par with you (like friends and acquaintances). Still others are your subordinates. The key to fully exploring the riches of these different relationships is RESPECT. Respect everyone.

  • To your parents, be obedient;

  • To your spouse, be faithful;

  • To your boss, be loyal;

  • To your friend, be trustworthy;

  • To your subordinate, be kind;

  • To yourself be true.

Your relationships are the opportunities God gives you to serve Him. To the extent that you effectively manage these different relationships today, you will be happy here on earth and eternally secure in heaven. You will shine your eyes and enter heaven. And if it is hell you prefer, you will not sleep-walk into it.

As you make your decisions for the day, consider the choices you are making about your eternal destination. The path to heaven is narrow because it involves a lot of sacrifices. The sacrifices you make for the good of others will not go unrewarded. You have the help of those in your life. Share their burden and let them help you with yours.

QUICK QUESTION: On a scale of 1-10, how often do you to reach out and check on family and friends?
