Dealing with Each Other in Love, Patience and Respect

Today’s Reading:

Romans 12:14-21 (v. 18)

"If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men." (v. 18 NKJV)

Another way to express this, is to observe the beautiful way of geese, how they care for each other, how they move on water in straight lines, majestically in a V-shape when flying in the air and it is a joyful sight seeing them rear their young. But observing them during the summer season is not pleasant at all. They love eating grass and once they get on a lawn, they ruin it and leave messy droppings that is an eye saw behind.

Dealing with some difficult people can be likened to the menace of geese in the summertime. We should understand that there is beauty in the most difficult person. If we are patient to get closer to such person, we will discover this. We will also discover that their difficult behaviour reflects probably their inner pain, either past or present or their background.

But Paul is telling us that as much as possible, we should be at peace with all men (v.18). What we will do in this case is to ask the Holy Spirit for patience in dealing with difficult people. We should also intercede for such a person in our prayers. Although this may not always produce a happy outcome, but we will be surprised how God often redeem such relationship. Again, peace can come when we respond to others in a gentle manner. So, when next we come across difficult people and seeing them through the eyes of Jesus Christ, God will give us the grace to love them.

Prayer:

  1. Father help me to leave peaceably with others. Also help me to recognise if I am a difficult person in someone else's life, intervene and help me to change my ways, in Jesus name.

  2. Father begin your revival in my life, family and environment, in Jesus name.

  3. Father make me and my family the apple of your eyes; and keep us under your wings, in Jesus name.

  4. Every power of rising and falling in my spiritual life, die, in Jesus name.

  5. Father, uproot everything you have not planted in your Church, revive your Pentecostal power and fire; re-position your church to suit your purpose, in Jesus name.

  6. Father, thank you for sustaining the nations of the world with your mighty presence. Bulldoze and destroy strongholds of wickedness and revive your work. Let there be love, peace, harmony of purpose and progress in Jesus name. Amen.
