Today’s Reading:
2 Corinthians 4:1-18
“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed” (vv. 8 – 9)
Comfort is a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint. It is the easing or alleviation of a person's feelings of grief or distress. To comfort someone is to give solace or to soothe. You might comfort your brother when his favourite team gets knocked out of the playoffs. The verb comfort comes from the Latin word comfortare, which means “strengthen greatly.” To give comfort is to shore up the mood or physical state of someone else.
It is means to give strength and hope to: cheer comforted by the knowledge that the program will be fully funded. To ease the grief or trouble of consoling, the mother comforted her crying child. Human being’s comfort is limited; hence we need the comfort of God which is unlimited. God of all comfort means that; God can bring comfort in all areas in this life; He can bring comfort if you’re dealing with sickness his word tells us that by his stripes we are healed. He can bring comfort through dealing with life challenges and situations, because his word through faith can make any bad situation or difficult problem work out for your good. Whatever you’re dealing with there is a word in the bible that can and will bring comfort if you only believe.
God is the God of all bliss, which is the most intense pleasure which one can indefinitely maintain. Although one needs help.) All ‘comforts’ are just a reduction in bliss intensity, though with a possible increase in variety of texture to the experience. For instance, work experience provides such texture, though usually people fail with the corresponding bliss. He alone can and desires to end all suffering through his coming Kingdom blessings. He has given mankind true hope for a future with peace, love, abundant food, housing, an end to sickness and death, and the resurrection of those who have died.
Beloved, you can find comfort in God, when you talk to God in prayer, when you read and study the Scripture (Joshua 1:8-9). Kindly realise God never promised to insulate you from pain, but He did promise to enter your pain with you. He is your together-strength, your ever-present comfort. Also note that you need to follow Jesus’ example and know that Jesus can comfort always (Mark 10:49, Matthew 28:20).
