Today’s Reading:
Nehemiah 13:15-22
“Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the Sabbath day? (17 AKJV)
In the world we find ourselves today, illegality has become the legality of the day. It is so saddening that people of the world see a holy life as a "boring life". There was a time when people had the fear of God in their hearts. But now, just like the city of Sodom and Gomorrah that had to be destroyed in Genesis 19, the world we live in now has become corrupt and disorderliness has become the order of the day. What a tragic! However, irrespective of the view of the world about holy life, as Christians, we should stand for what is right. We should do the right thing irrespective of what everyone does or think. The adage, "If you can't beat them, you join them" should not be something found in the life of a Christian. We should choose to stand out.
Sometimes we would even have to be alone and without friend because we do not conform to their ways, but be of good cheers, because you have a friend in Jesus. We should know as Christians that, the fact that the majority is doing it does not mean we should join them in doing it, we should first of all check if it aligns with the teachings of the Bible. A preacher in the children ministry once taught them that they should constantly say "even if everyone does it, I wouldn't do it if it not of God".
Unlike Nehemiah, we might not be able to reach all the people of the world, but we can do the little we can in our locality, our place of work, our schools and in our environment. We should not just keep the Sabbath holy, but we should keep the temple of God holy. (II Cor. 6:14-16).

Prayer:
Father Lord, help me to do the right thing irrespective of what happens around me, in Jesus name.
My Father, help me to stand for You no matter how hard it appears, in Jesus name.
I will not disappoint God, in Jesus name
Every child of God facing challenges of standing for God, let grace and inner strength be available for them to stand and stand out, in Jesus name.
