Today’s Readings:

Judges 9:6-15

Psalm 21:2-7

Matthew 20:1-16

A wonderful new day to you. I hope your night was restful. God will always grant rest to those who trust in Him. Even when this is not immediately feasible because of worries and cares, I want you to be rest assured in God; He will make a way for you where there seems to be no way in Jesus’ name. Today is the celebration of Saint Rose of Lima. She knew how to place everything in God’s hands. She was born in Lima, Peru. She lived a very selfless life and devoted herself to God at a very early age. She refused to marry and wanted to consecrate herself to God, so she became a Dominican tertiary at the age of 20. Because of her ascetic lifestyle and simplicity, she started having strong spiritual experiences. Friends, family and even the Church became critical of her. But she was a gentle person, often caring for the sick, the poor and slaves. She is the first person in South America to be canonized, and so she is the patron saint of South America.

Like Saint Rose of Lima, we ought to trust God totally. If we claim God as our Lord and Father, then He deserves all our love and our trust. In the Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of a landowner who goes out at different times of the day to call different people into his vineyard. We are all called to work in God’s vineyard. Not just to labour for payment. But to dwell divine security. Wherever you are in the world and whatever you do, whether you are a doctor, politician, mechanic, a caterer, an actor, a painter, a musician, you are in the domain of God’s kingdom. You are a kingdom-child, a citizen of God’s kingdom. He cares for you and is generous to you.

These are the privileges which God offers to you as His child:

  • PROVIDENCE – God will always provide your needs (pay no heed to those who ask you for monetary or sexual favours in other to promote or assist you).

  • PROTECTION – God will always shield and protect you from all evil, so long as you completely run away from whatever is sinful and evil.

  • FORGIVENESS – No matter how far you think you are from God; He offers you mercy and wants to keep you close to Himself.

  • GUIDANCE – When you need to make a decision, He will be there for you. Granted, things may not be working out well for you now. You may have made some wrong decisions and you are not even sure if your next decision will be good. Ask God in prayer to guide you and He will show you signs.

  • DIVINE ASSISTANCE – As you try to do good and run away from every suggestion of evil, God will supply you with the graces and helpers you need.

  • BLESSINGS – God will bless the work of your hands and grant growth to your hard work. The Psalmist says about you, “You came to meet him with the blessings of success, you have set on his head a crown of pure gold.” God will definitely crown your efforts with success through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  • JOY – Often, we are so caught up with activities in our lives that we give God no time to shower us with peace. Psalm 21 says, “O Lord, your strength gives joy to the king; how your saving help makes him glad!” God will fill your heart with gladness that overflows.

Knowing all these, you need to ENTRUST YOURSELF TO GOD. Let Him guide you; guide your thoughts and emotions. Ask Him to take absolute control over your life. Others may be telling you “If you want to make it in this industry you have to pay money or do this or that”. Tell them that God is in charge of your life and that whatever He says stands. God does not share His glory with anyone. He will never demand a bribe in order to bless you. If you put in the work, He will open doors for you that no one can shut.
