Today's Reading:
1Kings11:1-13
"For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father." (v. 4)

To every action in this world, there are always consequences. The consequences can be positive or negative. If it is positive one stands to be a good example for others to follow, if negative the reverse is the result. King Solomon succeeded his father, King David according to the Bible passage. In the course of his reign, he did a lot of things against the will of God. He married many strange women together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians and Hittites, which God had warned the Israelites not to go into and them to the Israelites, hence they will turn their hearts after their gods. He married seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines. These and many other atrocities he did eventually brought decline (downturn) to his kingdom and his relationship with God.
The spiritual decline is a state where one experiences a downward trend in spiritual things, which could lead to a lot of catastrophes. There will be no revelation from heaven, no divine protection, blessings will be reduced, disconnection from God, no divine allocations. And enemies will have a field day, rejection of prayer, joy will become scarce and so on.
Therefore, let us endeavour to always get committed to God by being obedient to His command and living the Kingdom standard, so as not to get spiritually declined.
