Today's Reading:
John 8:51
"Verily, verily I say unto you, if a man keep my saying, he shall never see death". (v. 51 AKJV)
Death they say is inevitable, meaning it is inescapable. Death brings an end to everything. It means to cease from existence. This has been a known fact from ages past. Here in the Bible passage, Jesus was telling the Jews that were with Him, that they will not see death if they keep His saying. The understanding of the Jews then, did not go beyond what they assumed His saying to be. They were ignorant of what Jesus was saying.
Beloveth, there are two types of death. The first one is the one without life again. The second one is total separation from God, which is too bad, worse than the first one. If there is any serious prayer that any heavenly bound Christian should be praying is for him/her not to die the second death, which was what Jesus was telling the Jews. In John 5:24, Jesus said again. "Verily, verily I say unto you, He that heareth my word and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
Therefore, let us try to avoid second death by hearkening and doing the will of God for us to be justified and not be rejected at the throne of mercy.
God's great grace will abide with us forever in Jesus name.
