Today's Reading:

Daniel 1:1-21(8)

"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore, he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself" (v. 8 KJV)

Defilement is to contaminate, pollute, make dirty, and impure, no one cherishes defilement. The Bible says the eyes of the Lord cannot behold iniquity. As children of God, we need to avoid any form of defilement. Beloved, a lot of people found themselves where they are today because of the defilement they brought to their lives with the attendant consequences. Many had eaten or drank what they were not supposed to partake in, been to places they were not supposed to go, joined with evil associations known or unknown to them, married where they were not supposed to marry, gone into wrong business, worshipped at unholy places and so on. All these and more had truncated the destinies of a lot of people.

These four Hebrew boys, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego purposed in their hearts not to defile themselves to fulfil their destinies. Like Joseph too he decided not to have free sex to fulfil his destiny. My brothers and sisters, let us avoid anything that can defile us, so as not to open our lives for the enemies to attack. Let us pray against it and ask for spiritual sensitivity and restraint anywhere we find ourselves and for the grace to stand on the side of the Lord.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud: Father, thank you for Jesus Christ. Forgive my sins, take control of my heart and lead me in Your righteous path by the power of Your Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name. Thank You, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

1. Oh God my Father endow me with spiritual sensitivity anywhere I go in the name of Jesus.

2. I need your wisdom oh Lord to overcome defilement in the name of Jesus.

3. Pollution within and without my life clear away by fire in the name of Jesus.

4. Oh God arise and kill the power of flesh in my life in the name of Jesus.

5. Defilement in Christian homes, die in the name of Jesus.
