AS CHRIST FORGAVE YOU

Today’s Reading:

Matthew 18 : 21 – 22

Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven (Matthew 18 : 21 – 22)

Beloved, How are you doing?

The Bible says in Colossians 3 : 13 “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also (do) ye”.

There is only one manner in which God says a Christian should forgive; “ As Christ forgave you” How did Christ do that? By loving us in spite of our shortcomings. Consider your own Christian life! How many times have you sinned since you received Jesus? Countless times! Was there any time He refuse to forgive you? Now you are to extend the love of Christ to others in the world. From our passage today, Jesus said forgive up to seventy times seven times, i.e. 490times. I realize that if He ask you to do up to that in a day, He does more than that for you in a day.

Therefore, when you realize that others are imperfect like you, it will be easy to forgive them and put up with each other?

Also, “forgiving one another”. This is continuous, our Christians brethren can also wrong us, know this one of the sign of maturity is that you overlook the wrong and appreciate the right, do not go about exposing the wrong thing your brother in Christ did.
