John 7:1-2,10,25-30
In this world, being Christian does not pay. The values and standards of the world are opposed to Christian values and he or she is always a target for hate and disapproval. Like any brand, Christians are recognizable by their fruits—their way of life (Matthew 7:16). The Book of Wisdom states them as follows:
• Law-abiding and good upbringing.
• Knowledge of God and a child of God.
• Holiness of life.
• Modest and Authentic lifestyle.
• Looks forward to heaven as his or her reward.
Such a person will always run into conflict with persons who are loose, unethical, worldly, immoral, lawless and careless. And as a test, every action of theirs will come under scrutiny and investigation. The Psalmist concludes from this that “Many are the trials of the just man but from them the Lord will rescue him” (Psalm 34:19). Be patient with yourself and those who oppose you. They don't know what they are doing.
Jesus received death threats because he stood for values which the Jewish authorities claimed are opposed to theirs. Jesus claimed divine origin and proved it by the good works he did. No one could touch Him because they could not fault him in his actions. In order to stand firm in the face of opposition, we must stand well on the values of our Master and never give in to double standards. Your mantra should be the words of Saint Paul in Philippians 1:21 – “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Whether or not the world approves of you, heaven claims you and that is what matters the most.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud, “Father, I acknowledge my sins against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank You, Lord.”
If you said that prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the pastor or priest, as the case may be.
Prayer:
May God who created you, the Son who redeemed you and the Holy Spirit who continues to sanctify and inspire you, see you through every challenge and establish you in favour and boundless blessings through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord, shield us from the cruelty of evil people and give us courage to live in holiness. Help us to treat others with love and dignity, so that our world is better because of us through Christ our Lord. Amen.
