Today’s Readings:

Daniel 1:1-6,8-20

Daniel 3:52-56

Luke 21:1-4

Often, people say, “I am trying my best, but my best does not seem good enough”. Perhaps you are not meant to give your ‘best’. You are meant to give your all. If you give your all, you are certainly giving your very best. Sometimes, we are selective about where we ought to give our best, is it in our work or relationship or our journey of faith?

Our life is a whole and everything is connected to everything else. So, your best in your relationship will also reflect in your work and your faith. The widow in the Gospel gave her best when she gave all she had to live on in offering to God. This is the model of giving—when we give our best to all the things we are involved in (without letting us suffer), God takes notice of it and will reward us.

Daniel and his Jewish friends gave their best to God and even when they had to serve a pagan king, they found a way to still be faithful to God. Often, we quickly push God to the side if only we can make earthly gains. A wise person knows that God is the source of all good things. Never bite the fingers that made you.

So, note this week:

  • Be a person of prayer.

  • Work on your weaknesses and improve on your strengths.

  • Generosity unlocks blessings and cancels a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).

  • If you are faithful to God, you shall find favour in unexpected places.

  • Learn all you can from everyone you can—no knowledge is a waste.

  • Be slow to make promises —when you make them sure to keep them.

  • Keep your eyes on heaven —your true price and final destination.

Prayer:

  1. All-powerful Father, You have revealed yourself to me in the person of Your beloved Son Jesus Christ. Grant that daily, I may see Him more clearly, love Him more dearly, and follow Him closely in all I do. Amen.

  2. Lord of heaven and earth, all authority, power, and privilege belong to You. Help me to keep my focus on You when things are difficult and even more when things get better. Amen.

  3. You are blessed and greater blessings shall follow you all the days of your life through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  4. Lord, I place myself in your hands this day. May all things go your way through Christ our Lord. Amen.
