Today’s Reading:
Psalm 29, 2 Chronicles 5:2-14, Acts 26:19-21
Appreciation according to the Bible refers to the quality of being thankful and a readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. The Lord has been gracious to us in so many ways especially in ways we never believed could happen, David did not forget to give thanks to the Lord for His manifold greatness in his life. No wonder he was called the man of praise and the man after God's own heart. David didn't just thank God, he went bit by bit listing what God has done for him and how awed he is at God's goodness, like a lover he described how powerful God is and everything God did for him; that's a man that understand the power of appreciation.
King David’s son did not hesitate to follow after his father's footsteps, pretty sure he saw the favours and successes that came along with father's attitude of gratitude. Hence King Solomon also took time to assemble the elders of Israel, heads of all the tribes, chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, all men of Israel, Levites who were singers, trumpeters etc. just to sing of the goodness and mercies of the Lord towards Israel. The importance these set of people gave to appreciating the Lord paid off and it's obvious in how God blessed them during their stay on earth. Has God ever done anything for you and you haven't found the time to give Him quality praise? Appreciation should be one of the precious lifestyles of the believers just like praying, fasting, reading the word of God and the like. Make necessary effort to appreciate God daily for what He has done, what He will do and is still doing.
Appreciation can be given to God in form of:
Singing, dancing, shouting to glorify the name of God (Psalm 30:11-12)
Giving arms to the poor, offerings and tithes to make the house of God flourish and run smoothly (Hebrews 13:16, 2 Corinthians 9:10–15).
Using one’s time and effort to work in the house of God in one department or the other in the church (Ephesians 5:15–21)
Using one’s gift to glorify the name of God and not man or ourselves (1 Peter 4:10).
Benefits of appreciation:
Appreciation can create a connection between the believers and God just like David who was termed as the man after God's heart.
Appreciation brings more blessings to us hence the saying, appreciation is the application for more.
Appreciation can create a stream of wealth and untold blessings that span through generations.
Appreciation benefits both the one with the heart of gratitude and their off springs.
