Today’s Reading:
Exodus 3: 1-6, 9-12
“Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So, he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” So, when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” Moreover, He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. ….. Now, therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” So, He said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” (Ex. 3:1-6, 9-12, NKJV)
Moses was born for a purpose. Though a Hebrew, he was raised in the palace. He had the knowledge of the purpose of God for his life and began to move around as the defender of the Jews. His sentiment was still with the Hebrews although he was considered an Egyptian. So, he killed the Egyptian believing no one had seen him do it. However, that occurrence (Exodus 2:11-21) resulted in Moses fleeing Egypt. (Exodus 2: 14 Then he said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” So, Moses feared and said, “Surely this thing is known!” 15 When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.). When Moses left Egypt, he became totally separated from royalty. He went through a hard time, lost everything because of what had happened to him while trying to defend the Jews. He was stripped of everything and was brought down to keeping the flocks of his father-in-law in the desert. Nevertheless, God remembered him because he was a man of destiny.
One day, Moses was tending his Father-in-law’s flocks in the desert near Mt Horeb, and he had an amazing encounter; there was by the side of the mountain a burning bush that was not burnt up. So, he went over to investigate and discovered that God was present there. There, God spoke to him out of the burning bush and explained why He came to speak to him. As children of destiny there are certain things, we need to be conscious of in order for us to fulfil our purpose:
• You must become empty. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you must throw out or flush out everything that can be a hindrance to being one with God.
• You must be humble. Humility is a key attribute (James 4: 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore, He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”)
• Separate yourself from the things of the world (2 Corinthians 6: 17.Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”) When Moses beheld the burning bush that was not consumed in the wilderness: (Exodus 3.3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”). There must be a shift of focus.
Moses thought, he had lost it and his destiny was truncated, but God turned his experience to prepare for the task ahead of him. God spoke through a bush to Moses and still sent him out to do what he was born to do. God is waiting for that attitudinal change after that great mistake that brought you down. (Psalm 40: 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.) He is ready for your lifting. There are times in a man’s life when we think a mistake, we made in the past has totally taken us off the rail. I can assure you that God is merciful and His promises in Christ are yes and amen according (2 Corinthians 1: 20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us). If you stay humble before Him; empty yourself of everything that can cause a separation between you and God, and focus your GAZE on Him, you are due for restoration of destiny. God is the One that chooses the called (John 15: 16) equips us when He calls us. He does not select us and send us to crash and burn. You think you are totally incapable, be assured that nobody is accomplished enough for God’s work. He will sort you out, though you may not seem suited for God's service. (Hebrews 13: 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.)
Brethren, are you afraid to be used of God again because you are thinking you have missed it? You are a child of the Father of lights, you will shine again. Just direct your focus to Him again and you are due for that spectacular encounter that will engineer your restoration. You are a man of destiny- (Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;). If you are not yet a child of God, declare Him as Lord and you too can become a child of destiny again. Shalom.
Halleluyah!
